Understanding an infrastructure is a very complex problem. In SOA, we have to understand the various types of services and the servers they run on. Sounds simple...right? Wrong!
Connectivity services: As its name implies, these services help in the accessibility of servers. The term is broad and infrastructure wise it is very broad. Let's take databases for instance We have JDBC,ODBC,Bulk Loaders, ADO and direct API calls to name a few. These are considered connectivity services.

Like every project there is a beginning and an end. SOA projects are no different but that's where the similarities end. We, as managers, must take into consideration several factors that are handled differently in large SOA engagements.
Some differences include:
• Understanding that there is specific order to tasks in a SOA project.
• Tasking your infrastructure can be more important than the SOA project itself.
• The process of SOA is a project too!
SOA projects in the beginning are exciting and fun. In the coming weeks I'll try to provide some insight on making it fun and exciting at the end, also!
