For information on the product release, check out Chris on AquaLogic Service Bus 3.0 (Eclipse based, throttling, large message processing, split/join and pooling) and Pieter on BEA Workshop 10.2 (fastest Workshop ever, tuxedo control, faster incremental build, deployment, server starts).

Besides the great articles below, the big news is Dev2Dev TechDays. These are half day developer focused seminars that provide a guide for building SOA in Java, and we'll be running them all across the Americas from Mexico City to Toronto via San Diego and more :-) I'll have some dates for Asia at a later date. Some of the topics include: Developing POJO components, Extending POJO components into Java Web Services, Using Eclipse to Proxy enable Java Web Services, and Connecting a Flex UI to the back-end SOA. Registration is open!

Finally, we've made a number of changes to Arch2Arch as I outlined on my blog there. As a result of all the architect-focussed material we've been publishing (virtualization, integration, governance, reference architect etc.), I hope to remove some of the architect articles that keep appearing on our Dev2Dev article feed. We are, after all, about developers here! In the future, if you want architect-related material, please go over to Arch2Arch and subscribe there. Thanks!

In the Article GraphicArticles we have Ajax Programming with BEA Workshop. Gary Horen shows how to install and use a free JavaScript editor and debugger from Aptana, Inc., in BEA Workshop. He also demonstrates the use of a message inspector in the Firebug plug-in, an extension for Firefox.

Also check out Best Practices for Building Production Quality EAR Files, which examines the options available for packaging and deploying Java EE applications. It also describes the purpose of packaging specifications for application archives, and provides examples for implementing them.

Also of note, check out Flex Messaging with BEA Workshop Studio , An Introduction to OSGi on the Server Side and Measuring AquaLogic Enterprise Security Performance.

In the Blogs, check out Skip Sauls, who is just about to start a series of blogs looking at improving WebLogic Portal performance using Firebug and YSlow!.

Gary Jones blogged twice on Tuxedo message compression, showing how to enable the transparent compression and test the result.

New blogger Maxence Button shows how to build JAX-RPC or JAX-WS webservices with Weblogic 10. He shows how to create a simple webservice using standard annotations, and then to publish it under JAX-RPC or JAX-WS.

JRockit Mission Control is now available as a set of Eclipse plugins. Marcus Hirt points to the site. He provided a preview a while back.

From our Event Calendar we have the following upcoming events:

The current Poll asks " Have you heard about the Service Component Architecture (SCA)?" Please participate by voting on the home page.

The previous poll asked "Are you building front-ends with Adobe Flex?" 24% (45) respondents replied with "Yes", 32% with "I don't, but I will in the future", and 43% with "I prefer different front-end technologies."
