2.x Branch Is Now Beta

It is with great pleasure that we upgrade the status for the 2.x branch to Beta. You can use the same installation instructions below, as it has been updated to have references to the new binaries. Since the Beta to Release phase includes documentation, you will not find too much available documentation in the plugin. This is why to get started using this plugin, you should visit the developer link below. New features are:

  • Multiple concurrent configurations for any Weblogic Instance version 6.x, 7.x, 8.1 and 9.x
  • Multiple concurrent configured servers
  • GUI for managing multiple servers with visual representation of server deployments
  • Context sensitive popup menus for managing the server and it's deployments
  • More in depth list in Release Notes

Please use this Beta phase to use the new features but to also suggest new features, report bugs and get involved with any remaining tasks in the Issue Tracker.

The URL to the site: https://eclipse-plugin.projects.dev2dev.bea.com/ Take care, Jeremy

  • Jeremy, what is the relation of this plugin with server management console in Eclipse WTP project? It seems that all of the features you've mentioned already supported by WTP.

  • I'm sorry about leaving the URL out. Here it is: https://eclipse-plugin.projects.dev2dev.bea.com/ As far as the WTP project, you can get the information here: https://eclipse-plugin.projects.dev2dev.bea.com/roadmap.html If you have more questions, please let me know. Take care, Jeremy

  • I downloaded the beta version the other day and after some struggling eventually succeeded to debug my web application.

But I do get an error message when trying to set the configuration before starting debugging my application.

    - Select/highlight project to run
    - Choose Run menu > Debug > WebLogic

And here is the exception message:

Exception occured creating launch configuration tabs

    Reason:
No tab group defined for launch configuration type
    com.bea.weblogic.eclipse.launcher.launchConfigurationType

I'm greatful for any input that will solve this problem

  • Magnus, That is erroneous. You are not using the plugin to start the server. Please use the "Weblogic Server" view to start the server. Take care, Jeremy

  • Hi , Please can any give the solution on the above problem. No tab group defined for launch configuration type com.bea.weblogic.eclipse.launcher.launchConfigurationType I want to deploy the war, jar, using Eclipse deployto option.

  • This is about the error: No tab group defined for launch configuration type com.bea.weblogic.eclipse.launcher.launchConfigurationType I experienced the same problem, at every launch weblogic or eclipse create debug configuration (I have a lot of those) and it's not good. Second weblogic pluging is not assigning correctly the sources. Eclipse 3.1 assignes sources using launch configuration, I guess adding that tab, WLPlugin will work better without fill eclipse with dirty. Any other ideas to work better?

  • I installed the plugin and a local copy of WL 8.1 When I create a new, remote WL81 Server Instance using Edit WebLogic Server Instance I can fill all the available fields OK & save. The WebLogic Home field uses the local WL Home value of D:\bea\weblogic81. Thereafter attempting to connect to the new remote instance from the WebLogic Servers view results in an unhandled java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException exception. Returning to edit the server configuration the OK button is never enabled and the message "Enter a home for your BEA install" is always displayed regardless of the value entered in this field. I uninstalled and reinstalled WL8.1 on the local machine but no joy Have I missed something fundamental here or perhaps the WL Home and the exception are un-related.
