Here’s the second installment of “little know facts about BEA’s Business Integration Solutions”. Once again, I’m focusing on BEA’s ESB, BEA AquaLogic Service Bus. I’m venturing to say… If you build it, they will connect…
A couple of days ago, I received a bunch of email highlighting several new custom transports that have been created to connect different technologies to BEA’s AquaLogic Service Bus. Now, on Codeshare, you will find ALSB transports for environments as varied as Progress OpenEdge, Oracle Stored Procedures, Tibco Rendezvous, and ifiveOS which supports direct outbound calls to i5/OS and OS/400 programs.
AquaLogic Service Bus is all about mediating and managing service interactions regardless of whether those services are WebServices, Java, or custom services, and ALSB supports a wide array of transports core to the product. But what is really exciting is how the dev2dev community is expanding the ability of ALSB to connect to a wide array of environments that are indicative of what customers have in their existing and heritage IT infrastructures.
Take a look at the gems found on CodeShare and you might find the solution to your specific challenge or use these submissions as examples to build out your own custom ALSB transport using the ALSB Custom Transport API… you’ll have plenty of company.
