It's been a great day for me here at BEA Participate, many good feedback!!

I don't usually comment on other people blog postings, but there is some reports that I would like to comment on. This is for a posting by Sandy Kemsley about my first session.

You can look at Sandy's posting here.

What I really want to point out here is that the presentation was about a single aspect of the AquaLogic BPM Product Suite: our story regarding integration in a SOA architecture.

The presentation was intended for architects to get an idea of the capabilities of the product and what is our vision of their role in defining the SOA architecture for their own organizations. The presentation was describing technical details that are very important for this people.

In my opinion, ALBPM is a great tool for business people, since we isolate the technical details from them, letting them focus on the business processes, the real value. Nevertheless, someone has to deal with the technical details, and that people are the architects in charge of defining the architecture of BPM solutions.

I don't think business people should really care if the business process is a consumer, or producer of services, or any combination of the above.

Another thought that just came up is that you cannot think of ALBPM as a tool targeted to a single audience, it is used by many different types of people: business analysts, process developers, architects, administrators, end-users. We know that at this point, the audience that needs more attention is the people in charge of defining BPM architectures. That is why we focused this session and others to explaining what they can expect from the product.

One final thing about the modeling tool: besides the oportunities that we know we have for product improvement, the core philosophy behind ALBPM Studio remains the same we had for Fuego Studio. All we did was to simplify some integration cases with other BEA products. I really think BPM is a great tool to help all people involve in business process management, from the business to the developers to the end-users.
