Becoming a better blogger is a snap. This guide provides 11 key steps to improving the way in which you blog.
Practical Advice on Becoming a Better Blogger
How do I blog remotely?
First you need to install a blogging client. A popular option is Windows Live Writer and we've provided detailed instructions for using it in this screencast:
Setting up Windows Live Writer for Dev2Dev/Arch2Arch.
Next you'll need some combination of the following:
- User Name: Your Dev2Dev user name.
- Password: Your Dev2Dev password.
- XMLRPC URL: http://dev2dev.bea.com/mt/mt-xmlrpc.cgi
- Blog ID: When you use the MovableType web interface, your blog id is in the URL.
Some clients will be able to autodetect Blog ID if you use this URL instead: http://dev2dev.bea.com/blog/{your blog name}/rsd.xml
How do I select multiple categories in the web interface?
For example, you may wish to select a product such as "WebLogic Server" and a role such as "Architect".
MovableType requires that you save your entry before you can select an additional category. Save it with a Post Status of Draft. When you edit the saved entry, you'll find an option "Assign Multiple Categories" under the Primary Category dropdown.
Can I see stats for my blog?
We provide you with page view statistics for each of your blog posts. To view them you'll need to login to Dev2Dev and then go to the Movable Type web interface by clicking "My Blog" on the main blogs page. From there you'll see a link called "Stats" near the top right of the page next to FAQ and Help.
How is blog content licensed?
We're currently using a BEA blog disclaimer on our blog content.
We believe this new license will make it easier to get that content
read by more people, while also protecting it appropriately. The
license is noted on the main blogs page, on your personal blog page,
and on each blog entry page.
