Changing Annotation Configuration on the Fly: One of the knocks against annotation-based configuration is that the configuration information is baked into the code making it difficult to change from one environment to another (staging, production, etc). With Controls, Workshop, and WLS this is not an issue. Annotation Overrides, fully integrated with the WLS console and deployment plans, allow for external reconfiguration of important settings making it easy to reconfigure applications for different environments. Out-Of-Container Testing When Using JNDI Lookups: Many applications, particularly J2EE applications, use JNDI to look up their resources. While this is a convenient and useful service, it makes components that depend on the lookups harder to test outside of a running application server. There are a couple of strategies that can be applied to still acheive the much desired goal of testing these components outside of a running server.
