Challenges, trends and blueprint for successful SOA integration
The choice for any enterprise operating in the global marketplace is simple: adaptation or extinction.
In today’s dynamic business environment, inflexible infrastructure can result in lost customers, lost revenue, late entry into emerging markets, and a lot of other bad news.
SOA Integration helps to clear the path to business agility by transforming brittle IT systems, applications, and data sources into highly flexible, reusable services that can be shared across the enterprise. Mar. 27, 2008

Hotter than a Hedge Fund: SOA Integration: No there is actually no SOA-based ETF or hedge fund even. However, a recent report from Randy Heffner at Forrester seems to suggest that SOA may actually be a place that companies may want to invest; it extends the life of legacy and drives costs down through consolidation and risk avoidance. Gets you out of that rut that IT is in and helps you lower the costs while doing it.

Ed the Enterprise Architect: Who is Ed? And why is it possibly you I am writing about? You are probably one of the few people who goes home at night thinking about big problems no one else can grasp; they are technical challenges but at the same time they are rooted in business problems as well. In fact the technical challenges are probably the least of your headaches right now. Its a lonely world championing problems that few can relate to.

JBI is still dead: From polling our customers, partners and folks out there like you, we have seen that JBI 1.0 is not ready for prime time. The JBI 1.0 standard focuses primarily on a few vendors and does not deliver on the promise of ESB-portability or ease of creating SOA. As a result, it contributes little to the usefulness to business integration, one of the real pain points for our customers. In this blog, I'll look especially at the 2.0 plans to see if they can't bring it back to life!

Tastes great but less functionality - Light ESB: Today the market needs a fully functional bus, but one that can grow and evolve as enteprise needs for SOA evolve and mature, but that starting point is an ESB. Call it what you want, light or heavy you decide. I like to call it AquaLogic Service Bus.

Mixing Metaphors with ESB: I love to hear blog posts that talk about SOA and casually mention the solutions to business integration as silver bullets, holy grails, nirvana. And the only way I could think to possibly counter such a plethora of blogs was to write the most mixed metaphor catch-phrase ridden blog myself. I'll also mention SCA, one of my new favorite subjects.
