BEA Workshop 10.1 + Adobe Flex Builder 2: Medrec Patient Application Demo
Date: January 28 2008
Presentation: View the screencast

Description: In this screencast, you will learn how Flex & Workshop can be used to provide a single Java/Flex environment for RIA and WebLogic Server side development. The medrec example application that ships with WebLogic Server has been redesigned for new RIA technologies, and is constructed in three layers, the Web tier (Flex), the Business tier (Spring services exposed as Web Services), and the Data tier (ORM types and corresponding Spring DAOs). We'll use Adobe and BEA's Eclipse plug-ins to address each layer of the application. Thanks to Spring, the web tier is replaceable without changing the other two, as they are unaware of what web technology is providing the view.
See the related Dev2Dev article: Flex Messaging with BEA Workshop Studio and BEA's Workshop Studio - Flex microsite.

Hi Sarah,
Can you provide us with some notes as how to get started with a Flex based project assuming that we have a dao and spring based business tier intact. Also where is the ant build file in the demo download. We are from JSF+Hibernate+Spring background and would like to switch over to Flex instead of JSF. Also do you have an online demo of this Medrec+Flex application available on the web so that we can look at it from HCI point of view.

Hi Sarah,
It would be helpful, if you can provide ant build file for this application. Also some details are needed to get started with a flex based project using Weblogic Workshop.
Can you point out some tips for JSF+Spring+Hibernate guys to get started with Flex.

Can we get some answer back from BEA Workshop support team about Medrec Flex base demo? If you do not have one, say so. The development community needs some answer.
