How can you use Open Source technology in commercial environments? BEA's blended approach shows you the way. This session will provide an overview of many popular open source solutions and discuss how to utilize them with BEA products like the enterprise performance leader, WebLogic Server 9.1 and the award winning BEA Workshop Studio 3.0. The agenda is divided into Web Tier, Business Tier and Data Tier sections. In the Web Tier we'll examine JSP, Struts, JSF and Ajax; in the Business Tier the use of inversion of control and the Spring Framework; and in the Data Tier O/R technologies such as EJB 3.0 and Hibernate.

Presenter:

Adam FitzGerald is the Director of Developer Relations for BEA Systems and is responsible for building developer communities around Java Enterprise Edition and BEA products. He has extensive technical experience in enterprise development, administration, web services, service oriented architectures and open source software and has given talks at JavaOne, BEAWorld, XML2005 and many other industry events. Prior to joining BEA in 2000, Adam researched mathematical techniques in computer vision at the University of North Carolina.
