But php seems like an odd choice. Im much more excited about JRuby. Imagine being able to run Ruby-On-Rails apps on Weblogic.
Have a look at the intergrated IDE that comes with SEASIDE too. Thats cool.
But of-course if you really need strong intergration between your java code and your dynamic/markup code you cant go past jython.
Now if we could just get Jython/Django/Some kind of intergrated IDE to run on weblogic we'd have somthing really killer.

I undestand why the PHP choice seems odd. I think the option is more of a migration path than anything else.
The JRuby team has made
lots of progress
moving Rails to JRuby. I have not seem much in terms of CherryPy/TurboGears/Django running on Jython.
Look at my latest
blog on Grails
to see why I settled on it. I have been submitting lots of patches to Grails lately.
